Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dee

My father is right. I have been back from Ireland for DAYS now and have reported nothing. Day One was spent in the airport back to Chicago, marking my 7th flight in less than a month. I was very tired. And then I got sick.

I noted to myself a long time ago that since going vegan, I have enjoyed very good health. I don’t know what kind of significance that coincidence has, but I admit that I have been a terrible vegan this summer, especially so in Ireland where I enjoyed cheese without nearly as much guilt because every time I looked out my window I saw the cows from which it was coming. And after the cheeseapalooza, I got a cold. I don't know if I should draw conclusions from that or not, but I'll put it out there.

I also had to get my wisdom teeth out. HAD to. They hurt a lot, and my insurance is up at the end of the month. So I held my coughing and general crapiness at the office so they would take out my teefs. It worked and now I am happily floating around on vicodin. My mouth is SOOOOOORE. The doc told me, about a hundred times, that I had a very small mouth. He was worried he couldn’t get in to get the teeth out, but when I started crying because I really didn’t want to live with pain like this, he agreed to take out 3 of the 4. Yay!!

So now I sit swollen and sore, trying to write cover letters for clerkships. Sigh. Any day now I will have some free time to write about the trip. Somewhere between volunteering at 1L Orientation and leading the journal orientation and beating my head against a desk because THE SENIOR RESEARCH PROJECT FROM HELL HAS STRUCK AGAIN. I’ve made a huge mistake.

Anyway, here's a little sumpin sumpin:
This last one, a graveyard near my great-grandfather's hometown, is actually in color, not black and white. We managed to find his little farming village, despite knowing nothing but the town name and the county. It was very cool, even if it was pretty much all of two cottages at this point. We did find many gravestones nearby with family names. That was very cool.

Everyone Loves an Irish Girl

My fortune cookie tonight said
Next week, green is a lucky color for you.
And with that - I'm off to Ireland! So no posting for awhile (hahaha, like I post!). Will be back middle of next week.

You know when I'’m down to just my socks it's time for business

Some updates:

1. I'm in my final days of being a summer associate. I am extremely tired. I'm not complaining because it's pretty much the sweetest gig on the whole planet, but I am tired. I think this has a lot to do with the research I agreed to do for a professor. Remember how I agreed to do it for the month of July? Guess who spent all last night sourcing. Sourcing cites like "The Texas Case" and "Letter Dated 7/5/02."

W.
T.
F.

To my minor astonishment, I actually found all those sources, even the cite that said, literally, "House Bill #?- don't know year." So to all the haterz that think law journals are a waste of time, I say look who's laughing now. (Well, it's still you, but I probably saved myself 2-3 hours of sitting on my bed, cursing under my breath and searching Lexis because I had done it a bajillion times before last year. So maybe it's "look who's crying a little less than she might otherwise be." BOO YEAH!)

2. I'm off to Ireland next week. In 5 weeks, I'm going to Puerto Vallarta (fors my birfday!). Then two weeks after that it's San Fransciso. We're still working on the Australia trip, but it's totes happening. I really, really love being a 3L.

3. I saw probably the most amazing clothes at the gym the other week. I have to draw them for you, but I'm gonna needs like, two hours just to get the hair right. But here's the recipe for this particular shade of AWESOME: backless, shiny top from 1994 + pink crocs + raver boots + American flag stretch pants + poncho + Michael Bolton's old hair + YOU'RE AT THE FUCKING GYM ON A SATURDAY MORNING, ASSHOLES.

4. What's going on with The Teeth Saga? Well, of the six cavities and 1 root canal I need, I had two cavities filled. I chose them because of the extreme pain I had on that side. Turns out it wasn't the cavaties, it was the wisdom teeth that were hurting like holy hell. So all 4 are coming out in two weeks. This is perfect timing because what else do I have to do right now? Oh wait- a whole fucking lot. Like, get back to America, get back home for school, get my clerkship crap together, get all the little kiddies ready for Orientation, and get something planned for Orientation so I have to talk as little as possible because I will look and sounds like crap.

...Actually the more I think about it, the more I realize this is the PERFECT time to be stoned out of my mind on prescription pain killers. Good thinking, me!
